GUSHUE WINS AGAIN

  Newfoundland’s Team Gushue captured another World Curling Tour championship Sunday in Basel,Switzerland with a 7-2 victory over the Netherlands Team van Dorp in the final game. After losing their first game, Team Gushue racked up 8 straight victories to claim their 4th Swiss Cup title since 2006. GUSHUE WIN AGAIN

The Brad Gushue curling team captured a World Curling Tour championship at the “AMJ Campbell Shorty Jenkins Classic” in Cornwall, Ontario with a 5-4 extra end victory over Glen Howard Sunday. ST JOHNS GET BRIER

      The Sports Page has learned that the City of St. John’s has been awarded the 2017 Canadian men’s Curling Championship—The Brier. Sources tell the SportsPage that an announcement will be made in St. John’s within the next two weeks. Local officials will not comment on the story only saying that the announcement will be made by Canadian Curling officials as to what bid has been successful. St. John’s hosted the 1972 Brier at the Old Memorial Stadium. Orest Meleschuk and his rink of Dave Romano, John Hanesiak  and Pat Hailley claimed the championship. Newfoundland’s only Brier win…
