Team Symonds will meet Team Thomas for the Centennial Curling Spiel which has been taking place this weekend at the Remax Center the St. John’s Curling Club. Symonds and his rink of third Mark Healy, second Dave Noftall and lead Keith Jewer will face Colin Thomas and his rink of Cory Schuh third, second Chris Ford and lead Spencer Wicks at noon. Team Heather Strong opened up a 3-1 lead over Team Adam Boland with stolen singles in the 4th and 5th ends. Boland is away on a 2-week work assignment but will soon be back for the Season. ICE #1: Ches’s Fish & Chips (skipped by Greg Blyde) took control in their game with ASHAM (skipped by Greg Smith) by stealing a point in the 5th end for a 4-2 lead. The teams traded singles the rest of the way before Blyde ran ASHAM out of rocks in the final end for a 5-3 victory. With Glen Goss throwing the skip rocks for Geoff Cunningham and Team A. Harvey, they were handed a bad omen in the first end against former League Champions makethecall.ca skipped by Colin Thomas.
