SOFTBALL NL CANCELS CERTAIN PROGRAMS

2 mins read

Softball NL Membership,

We were in the process of preparing for the upcoming 2020 season and we are confident that your Associations were doing the same, but we have all been thrown a rare curveball with the recent and rapid development of the Coronavirus (COVID-19). The amount of information available is vast and the updates concerning COVID-19 is certainly overwhelming, but has become a part of our daily dialogue, as the cases of COVID-19 in Canada are increasing and more and more activities and events on a global scale, national scale and now local scale have been cancelled outright or postponed until further notice.

After reviewing the information available, monitoring the updates daily, as well as a recent Conference Call with Softball Canada and all the other Provincial/Territorial Association members, to ensure the health and safety of everyone associated with Softball NL, we have made the tough (but easy and necessary) decision to Suspend ALL Softball NL Sanctioned Programs/Activities Until Further Notice. This includes all Coaching Courses, High Performance Camps, Skills Camps and Umpires Clinics.

We will do our utmost to keep everyone updated and informed as to when and if Softball NL Sanctioned Programs/Activities will resume. As everyone is aware this situation is constantly changing, but we will continue to gather as much information as possible and lean on health experts and government officials, which will allow us to make the best decisions for everyone involved – Athletes, Coaches, Umpires & Volunteers.

Associations/Teams at the Community and/or Club levels have to make the decision to suspend their own Programs/Activities and we strongly encourage All Associations/Teams to do so.

We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we strive to navigate through this uncharted territory. Programs/Activities will only resume once it has been determined that it is safe to do so.
