Deer Lake Red Wings take the opening game of the west coast senior hockey final series with a 6-4 decision over the Corner Brook Royals.
T J Smith potted a pair of goals for the winners. Jalen Gillard, Nathan White, Matthew Roche and Shannon Moores added singles.
Ran Hawco,Jonathan Guy, Matt Parsons and Ryan Meade scored for the Royals.
Game two will be played Saturday night in Corner Brook staring at 7:30.
