The Ice Caps extended their point streak to eight games as they defeated the Toronto Marlies 5-1 in a penalty-laden game Sunday afternoon.
Morgan Ellis, Bud Holloway and Charles Hudon picked up three points each, all notching a goal and two assists. Rookies Daniel Carr and Mark MacMillan each added singles to propel the Ice Caps over the Marlies. MacMillan’s goal was the first of his pro-career.
The Ice Caps collected 29 penalty minutes, while the Marlies sat for 48, a collective total of 77 minutes. Netminder Zach Fucale was spectacular in the St. John’s victory, stopping 37 of 38 shots.
The IceCaps continue their road trip Wednesday against the Albany Devils (8:30 PM NST).

The St. John’s Ice Caps scored three unanswered third period goals and go on to beat the first place Toronto Marlies 6-2 in a matinee game Saturday in Toronto.
Stefan Fournier and Charles Hudon tallied a pair of goals apiece in the victory. The single markers came from Gabriel Dumont and Daniel Carr.
Eddie Pasqualie was between the pipes for the Ice Caps and made 24 saves.
The same teams play again Sunday in Toronto.

The Rochester Americans come away with two points from the St. John’s Ice Caps as they come up with a 4-3 decision in a shootout.
Colby Robak scored at 19:42 of the third period for Rochester to force the game into overtime and eventually the shootout.
Rochester had a 2-0 lead at one point in this game and the Ice Caps came back with goals by Morgan Ellis, Daniel Carr and Michael McCarron to grab a 3-2 lead until Robak tied the contest.
Zach Fucale made 31 saves in nets for the Ice Caps in this contest.
It’s now on to Toronto for games against the Marlies Saturday night and Sunday.
