The Corner Brook Barons will meet the St. John’s Capitals for the provincial senior baseball championship. The Barons defending their senior B title Sunday with a 3-1 decision over Mount Pearl.
Michael Tavenor went the distance to get the win. He gave up just four hits and fanned eight.
A J Whiffen does the full six innings and is tagged with the loss. He allowed the three runs on seven hits.
The Barons scored twice in the first and added a single in the third. The Mt Pearl run came in the sixth.
Fred Prosper and Travis Taylor had two hits each for the Barons while Mike Dyke had two hits for Gander in three plate appearances.

Matt Colbourne pitched a three hitter and Corner Brook Barons remain undefeated as they beat Mount Pearl 10-3 in the final game of the round robin. The two teams meet again Sunday morning at ten clock.
Randy Reid started for Mount Pearl and takes the loss. Cody Wiggins also saw mound duty. Fred Prosper of the Barons went three for four in this game. Steve Brien, Frank Brien and Colin Hunt had the hits for Mount Pearl.

Mike Dyke goes five for five and scores two runs and Gander pickup their only win at the senior B playdowns with a 9-7 win over Pasadena. Kevin Miller went four for four. Mike Glynn, who plays with Holy Cross in St. John’s pitched the win. Sean Anderson was tagged with the loss.

Corner Brook Barons collected 15 hits and go on to beat Gander 16-7 in action Saturday afternoon. They scored five runs in the second and seventh innings. Grant Vincent and Mike Taverner had three hit games for the defending champions. Brian Bennett goes the distance and gets the win for the Barons. Scott Hynes started for Gander and takes the loss. David Lahey and Justin Kelly also saw mound duty. Kevin Miller had three hits for Gander and Mike Janes belted two solo home runs. Corner Brook have a 2-0 record in the tournament.

Mount Pearl gets its first win a 12-2 decision over Pasadena. Tyler Holwell goes the six inning shortened game because of mercy rule. He gave up six hits walked and fanned two. Alvin Lafitte started for Pasadena and takes the loss. He went five innings allowing 10 runs on eight hits. Kevin Farrell finished up. Pasadena made six errors in this game. Steven Brien and Cory Comeford had two hits each for the Blazers.

A Blow out in the opening game of the Provincial senior “B” Baseball championships which started at Jubilee Field Friday.
The defending B champions Corner Brook Barons scored 20 runs and blasted 22 hits as they blew out Pasadena Pirates 20-3.
The Barons scored seven runs in the second and fourth innings and added another five in the fifth.
Travis Taylor gets the win and tosses a five hiter.
Mike O Neill went four for four with three runs batted Brian Bennett went three for four and teammate Mike Brake goes two for three with a home run.
Greg Whelan is tagged with the loss.

In the second game of the playdowns Gander scored 11 runs in the fifth inning and came from behind to upset Mount Pearl 15-8 .
Ben Murphy from St. John’s gets the win going four innings and Roebothan McKay and Marshall Gonzaga Vikings pitcher David Lahey came in relief.

Kevin Miller of the Gander squad went four for five in this game. Shawn Beeson had two Mount Pearl hits.
