BARONS WIN SENIOR B TITLE

      S  U N D A Y  The Corner Brook Barons defended their provincial B baseball championship this weekend. They finished tied atop the standings after the double round robin with a 3-1 record with the Stafford Welding Gander Pilots. The other entrant in the tourney the Mt Pearl Blazers were winless in 4 games.  In the round robin Gander defeated the Barons 7-4 with Alex Walsh picking up the win over Adam Warren. On Saturday the Barons rebounded with an 11-6 victory with Shawn Anderson picking up the win on the mound.. CANADA HAS TO SETTLE FOR BRONZE

      Canada had to settle for the bronze medal at the World Softball championships. They fell 7-3 to Australia  in that game to take the bronze as Australia  move on to the gold medal game with the win. Brad Ezekiel was 2 for 4 in the medal game.
