MacKenzie Glynn and her rink of Lead Camille Burt, Sarah Chaytor and third Katie Follett are provincial junior women’s champions. They defended the title they won last year. Glynn and her crew went undefeated and claimed the title with a 10-2 six end win over Emily Neary and her team. Glynn will be at the national juniors playdowns next month in Prince Albert Saskatchewan .…
The St. John’s Junior Hockey League has stopped play until January 4th, Ryan Dawson of C-B-N Stars and Michael Broders of C-B-R Renegades are tied for the scoring lead with 34 points each. Dawson has 13 goals and 21 assists in 15 games and Broders has nine goals and 15 assists in 16 games.…
Greg Blyde will play Nathan Young today for the 2018 Newfoundland Junior Men’s Curling title and right to go to the Nationals. Blyde finished with an 11-1 win over Joel Krats and his record is 5-1 good for first place. Nathan Young finished in second place with a 4-2 record as he defeated Evan McDonah 10-4. …
He is the starting goalie for the Newfoundland Growlers but Saturday night he was between the pipes for the Toronto Marlies. The Marlies won their game 5-1 over the Manitoba Moose. Michael Garteig made 26 saves in this game for the Marlies after he was called up on FRiday to play for the AHL team…
The Growlers win their 19th game of the season with a 4-3 win over Brampton thanks to four second period goals after trailing 2-nothing after the first. Josh Kestner, Matt Bradley, Ryan Moore and Scott Pooley scored the goals. Mario Culina made 37 saves to get the win in goal. Growlers now go on Christmas Break until December 28th when they play in Reading.…
