A Newfoundlander from Torbay has struck gold at the World Youth Olympic Games.

18 year old Nathan Young teamed up with Laura Nagy of Hungary to claim the gold medal in the mixed doubles curling event. They combined to beat a team from Russia 9-5 to take the gold medal.
