Two Newfoundlanders who have played in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League have been picked in this year’s National Hockey League Draft.
First of all Evan Fitzpatrick, a goaltender with Sherbrook was claimed 59th overall by the St. Louis Blues. The Blues were in the market for a netminder after trading goalie Brian Elliott to the Calgary Flames. Fitzpatrick was a member of the Sherbrooke Phoenix and played in 52 games and had a 3.42 goals against average.
And centerman Nathan Noel went in the fourth round and 113th overall to the Chicago Black Hawks.
He has played with St. John Sea Dogs.
He played in 61 games this past season and scored 21 goals and added 36 assists.
