NFLDERS INVOLVED IN NHL TRADE

There has been a trade in the N-H-L and two Newfoundland natives are involved. First the trade.

The Toronto Maple Leafs have traded veteran defenceman and captain Dion Phaneuf to the Ottawa Senators in a nine player deal.
Along with Phaneuf, the Leafs send forwards Matt Frattin, Casey Bailey, Ryan Rupert and defence prospect Cody Donaghey to the Senators in exchange for defenceman Jared Cowen, forwards Colin Greening, Milan Michalek and Tobias Lindberg as well as Ottawa’s second-round pick in the 2017 NHL Draft.

GREENINGGreening has played with the Ottawa Senators in the NHL and had been assigned to Biinghamton of the AHL.

He has seven goals and six assists with the Binghamton team this season. He has played five seasons with the Senators in Ottawa.

 

 

 

DONAGHEYDonaghey is in his sixth season in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey Leaue. He has played with Moncton this seasn and has played in 15 games with one goal and ten assists. He is a defenseman and has drafted by Toronto. Donaghey was invited to the Maple Leafs training camp and signed a three-year entry-level contract with Toronto in September 2014
