A Mount Pearl native has been named the Atlantic universities Male Athlete of the week.
Gavin Dyke, who is attending Dalhousie University wins the award for his swimming performance .
Dyke was named the Swimmer of the Meet at the AUS Men’s Swimming Championship held this past weekend at Dalhousie.
He led the Tigers to their 18th consecutive AUS swimming championship title.
Dyke collected seven gold medals this weekend including wins in all three freestyle events (50m, 100m & 200m) and the 100m butterfly.
He set new AUS and Dalhousie records in both the 100 and 200m freestyle events. He was also a member of all three of Dalhousie’s gold medal winning relay teams.
In addition to swimmer of the meet honours, Dyke was also named AUS male swimmer of the year .
