Westside Monarchs have won the 2017 Corner Brook senior baseball championship and in a sweep.
The Monarchs defeated the Hawks 5-1 Sunday to sweep the best of seven series four games to none. The Monarchs win game one 2-1, game two 1-nothing and game three 11-6
Matthew Colbourne tossed the win for the Monarchs. He gave up one run on eight hits, he walked two and struck out six.
Veteran Frank Humber takes the loss. Humber was touched for five runs on five hits he walked just one and fanned six.
Steve Sheppard hit a solo home run for the winners in this game while teammate Brad Brewer went two for two.
Perry Alexander went three for three for the Hawks and Darren Colbourne had two hits.
