MASTERS SOCCER CHAMPIONSHIPS

Holy Cross are the 2016 Newfoundland and Labrador Masters Men’s Soccer champions.

Holy Cross edged Feildians 2-1 Sunday to claim the title. Bernie Manning, the tournaments most valuable player scored the winning goal at 25 minutes. Scott Edwards got the shutout. They will now go to the Eastern Canadian Championships.

Feildians defeated C-B-S 4-1 Saturday to finish first in the standings. Pat Kennedy led the way with three goals and David Webb had a single. Roger Power replied for CBS.

 

The championship game is set for 6:30.

 

 

 

 

Game TWO

 Blair Ticker scored at the 50 minute mark and Holy Cross salvaged a 1-1 tie with C-B-S in game two of the Masters soccer championship. Cisco Acevedo had given CBS a 1-nothing lead at 44 minutes.

 

In the opening game of the provincial masters soccer championships Holy Cross and Feildians played to a 1-all draw.

 

Bernie Manning scored the goal for Holy Cross and Dave Webb replied for the Feildians.

 

C-B-S have the third team entered and play their first game on Friday at 6:30 against Holy Cross.

 

Feildians and C-B-S play Saturday at 6:30.

 

The championship game will be played Sunday at KGV at 6:30.

 

The winner of this tournament goes to the Nationals In Quebec
