The St. John’s IceCaps ended their home stand with a 4-0 loss to the Toronto Marlies on Saturday afternoon.
The game was back-and-forth in the first period until the Marlies’ Dmytro Timoshov broke the scoreless tie with 1:16 left in the first frame. Toronto would go on to score again in the second to maintain the lead.
The third period began with a quick tally from Andreas Johnsson to stretch the Marlies lead to three, and they would add another – Timoshov’s second of the night for the shutout victory.
IceCaps netminder Yann Danis was busy in net, and albeit the loss made 44 saves for the home team.
The IceCaps have lost five of their last six games and all were on home ice.

Toronto Marlies defeated the St. John’s IceCaps 5-3 in AHL play Friday night at Mile One.
Bobby Farnham lit the lamp just 1:31 into the first and Joel Hanley picked up the lone helper. The Marlies would answer with two tallies later in the period to take a 2-1 lead.
Yannick Veilleux snuck one past Toronto net minder Antoine Bibeau in the second period (from Farnham), but the Marlies would respond just 34 seconds later to keep the lead going into the third.
Ryan Johnston – fresh off the plane from the Habs – scored a beautiful goal in the third to tie it back up at threes, but the Marlies would go ahead to score two more unanswered tallies to seal the win.
The IceCaps finish up an eight game home stand Saturday afternoon AT TWO O CLOCK with a rematch against the Marlies.
