DEER LAKE, NL – Newfoundland’s legendary Herder Memorial Trophy is on the line again for 2025 as the Newfoundland senior hockey season comes to an end.
The finals will see the Deer Lake Red Wings of the Central West Senior Hockey League (CWSHL) in their third consecutive Herder final face the Clarenville Ford Caribous, who represent the Avalon East Senior Hockey League (AESHL) .
This provincial championship trophy was first awarded in 1935.
Finals between the Caribous and the Red Wings started this weekend with a pair of games at the Hodder Memorial Recreation Complex in Deer Lake.

The Herder Memorial Trophy was first presented by the Evening Telegram Limited in 1935 to honour the hockey playing Herder Family, who founded the Evening Telegram in 1879. The trophy is emblematic of the All-Newfoundland Senior Hockey Championship.
