SLINGERS GET SPLIT WITH GROWLERS

The Worcester Railers came to town and got what they wanted a split of their weekend series with the Growlers.

Saturday night the Worcester team came away with a 5-1 win over the Growlers before 5116 fans at Mile One.

Marcus Power got the lone goal for the Growlers

Growlers are back on the ice with game three of their seven game home stand Tuesday when they face Brampton Beast.

Back on home ice Friday night The Newfoundland Growlers pleased the hometown crowd with a 5-2 win over the visiting Worcester Railers.

Derian Plouffe opened the scoring at 12:39 of the first period, banging in a rebound off a rush by James Melindy giving the Growlers a 1-0 lead.

Worcester get back into this one as Nick Sorkin tied the game up just one minute in.

Tyler Barnes gave the Railers the lead at 1:29 of the third period. The Growlers came to life after that

Zach O’Brien tied  the game up at 4:09 of the third capitalizing on a 4-on-3 powerplay for his 17th goal of the season. James Melindy followed that up at 11:30 in the third period knocking home his own rebound giving the Growlers a 3-2 lead and his first goal of the season

Hudson Elynuik and Scott Pooley added empty netters for a 5-2 final.
