CWSHL TRIES TO SAVE FINANCIALLY TROUBLED FLYERS

1 min read

The Central West Senior Hockey League has agreed to cancel the six remaining games the Gander Flyers were to have played in the regular season.
The league in a prepared statement said “due to revenue this season having fallen well below budgeted figures which resulted in a accumulating serious financial situation for the team”, the League, HNL and all teams have agreed that the remaining three weekends of scheduled games will not be played.
So the League now says the Gander Flyers will play the Clarenville Caribous in a best of three semi final series. This means that the Flyers will have one game in that series at home and will play two on the road. The best of three series will start Feb 24th in Clarenville with game two Feb 25th and game three if necessary Feb 26th  also in Clarenville.
These two teams Gander and Clarenville met eight times during the shortened regular season. Clarenville won all eight games. The Caribous outscored the Flyers 43-21 in those eight games.
