Tyler Carroll scored three goals and assisted on another as Gander Flyers completed a weekend sweep of the Grand Falls Windsor Cataracts with a 5-1 win Sunday. Jordan Escott and  Brandon Hynes added singles.

Colin Circelli replied for the Cataracts.

The Gander Flyers surprised the Grand Falls Windsor Cataracts in West Central senior hockey league play Saturday night,

 

The Flyers had a 3-1 lead after 20 minutes of play and were up 6-2 after 40 minutes of action.

 

The Cataracts were not out of this they clawed back and scored four unanswered third period goals to tied the game at six all and forced overtime.

 

SCOTT DOODYHowever Scott Doody scored in the extra session and the Flyers escaped with a 7-6 win and two points.

 

Brandon Hynes scored three times and added an assist for the Flyers in regulation time. Brandon Nicholas, Andrew Ryan and Mitch Oake added singles for the Flyers in regulation time.

 

Brandon Bussey, Collin Circelli, Andrew Brennan, Danny Wicks, Stephen Simms and Andre Gill were the Cataracts goal scorers.

 

Marc Cheverie faced 57 shots in net for the Flyers.

 

Bryan Gillis and Jason Stone played in net for the Cats.

 

These teams play a rematch Sunday.
