The 21st annual Sportscraft Source for Sports Confederation Cup High School Hockey Invitational Tournament is taking place this week from Tuesday, February 5th to Sunday, February 10th at
various rinks in St. John’s and the surrounding area. The Confederation Cup High School Hockey Tournament began in 1999 as part of the 50th anniversary
celebration of Newfoundland and Labrador becoming Canada’s tenth province in 1949.
This year’s tournament, which will be the largest boy’s high school hockey tournament in the province, will see 20 teams from across the province compete
in a total of 46 games in nine venues throughout the region. This will lead to an exciting finish to the tournament with the Tier I and Tier II championship games taking place at the Goulds Sports Complex on Sunday, February 10th.
Organization of the tournament is led by Mr. Charlie Decker, who has been involved with the tournament since its inception, with the support of Mr. Peter
Keough and Gonzaga High School.
