SMITH WANTS BACK TO BRIER

  The 2021 Canadian Brier isn’t until next March. However –there is one Newfoundland Curling who has his eyes on winning the Newfoundland Tankard and getting to the Brier. This comes about as  Brad Gushue and his rink will be Team Canada atr next year’s Brier because they won the 2020 event. Well Greg Smith has his eyes now on trying to win the Tankard in this province and be the provincial rep at the Brier. So far he has two other members for his team Greg Blyde and Evan McDonah…

CROSBIE TEAM MAKES CURLING CHANGE

  There will be a change to the Team Crosbie Group Curling team as they hope to win the provincial tankard next year and go to the Brier. Brad Gushue and his rink will be team Canada so a new Newfoundland entry will be at the Brier. The Crosbie Group team announced that the teams new second will be Daniel Bruce. He skipped Newfoundland to a silver medal at the Canadian Junior championships this year. He replaced Adam Boland.  The team is skipped by Andrew Symonds with Chris Ford and Keith Jewer the other members. …

GUSHUE 2-0 AT THE BRIER

S U N D A Y The Gushue rink improved to 2-0 in Pool B as they beat Nova Scotia 5-2 Next game against Alberta who are also 2-0. S A T U R D A Y Brad Gushue and his rink  won their opening game at the 2020 Brier in Kingston Ontario. The Gushue foursome defeated Manitoba 8-4. He has two games on Sunday playing Nova Scotia and then Alberta.  Gushue and his rink won their first Brier in 2017 and followed that up with another Brier win in 2018 as Team Canada.…

MUN QUALIFY FOR CIAU CURLING CHAMPIONSHIPS

  Memorial’s men’s curling team finished second at the Atlantic Universities Curling championships Sunday. The team of skip Greg Blyde, Daniel Bruce, Ryan McNeil Lambswood and Ben Stringer lost 9-2 to Dalhousie in the final. The Blyde team however does qualify for the CIAU championships next month in Portage LaPraire Manitoba. …
