The St. John’s Capitals claimed their third straight provincial baseball title and 16th in past 17 years as they defeated Corner Brook Barons 6-2 Saturday at Jubilee field in Corner Brook.
Scott Goosney pitched a three hitter in picking up his second win of the tournament and seeing the Caps sweep the best of seven series in straight games.

Goosney was a double winner being named top pitcher with two wins and also Most Valuable player for the event.
Peter Madden of the Capitals was the top batter going seven for 14 in the four games for a .500 average.
