The Canadian Hockey League has announced that QMJHL Top Scorer Tyler Boland of the Rimouski Oceanic is the CHL Player of the Week for the week ending January 29 after scoring three goals and nine assists for 12 points in three games with a plus-minus rating of plus-6.
Boland extended his personal point-streak to 10 games and opened an 11-point spread atop the scoring race while helping the Oceanic earn a trio of victories last week. The overage forward scored a goal and three assists in each of his three games including Thursday night earning first star honours in a 5-3 win over the Baie-Comeau Drakkar. His offensive production also helped the 12th place Oceanic gain an edge in a battle for playoff positioning beating the 14th place Drummondville Voltigeurs 9-3 on Saturday, and the 11th place Halifax Mooseheads by a 5-4 score on Sunday.
A 20-year-old from St. John’s, Newfoundland, Boland has spent his entire four-year QMJHL tenure with the Oceanic who selected him in the tenth round of the 2013 QMJHL Entry Draft. This season marks his best offensive campaign with 37 goals and 46 assists for 83 points in 50 games surpassing last year’s output of 54 points in 67 games
