The Carolina Hurricanes have signed their 2014 fifth-round pick St. John’s native Clark Bishop to a three-year entry-level contract. Bishop, the captain of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League’s Cape Breton Screaming Eagles, went 127th overall in 2014.
He has spent the last four years in the QMJHL, playing in 202 games for the Screaming Eagles, and putting up 57 goals and 72 assists for 129 points. This season, his final year of major junior play, he has 16 goals and 23 assists for 39 points, as well as putting up 86 penalty minutes, the most of his juniors career.
In 2013-14, Bishop was also a member of the Canadian U18 World Junior Championship (U18) squad, where he put up 1 point in seven games.
