Ben Collingwood and Betsy Nicholson win 2025 Cape to Cabot 20km road race

St. John’s, N.L. – Ben Collingwood and Betsy Nicholson battled challenging weather to win the Capital Subaru Cape to Cabot 20k Road Race 2025.  Collingwood, the male winner, completed the course in 1:15:22, and Nicholson , the female winner, completed the course in 1:31:03.

Adrian Smith was second place male finisher at 1:18;22 and John Halley was third place male finisher at 1:19:58.  Katie Pirzada was second place female finisher at 1:35:33 and Courtney King was third place female finisher at 1:36:02. 

Fan favourite Florence Barron, 87, captured the 80+ female category with a time of  2:35:57, and Bill Saunders, 81, won the 80+ male category with a time of 2:28:29.

457 runners, both local and from as far away as Norway, Denmark, Germany and Hawaii completed the course in challenging conditions, with a temperature of eight degrees, drizzle, rain, fog and northeast winds

The Capital Subaru Cape to Cabot 20k Road Race is a race developed and operated by Athletics Northeast Running Club in St. John’s. The course starts at Cape Spear, the most easterly point in North America, and finishes at the top of Signal Hill in St. John’s. It has a 550m elevation gain and a 450m elevation drop. The Cape to Cabot  is considered to be one of the most challenging road races in North America. It is also one of the most scenic, incorporating two Parks Canada National Historic Sites, stunning coastal scenery, and the historic St. John’s waterfront.
