AVALON EAST SR HOCKEY

 

 

The Northeast Eagles have made a trade with the St. John’s Caps. The Eagles acquired  defenseman Doug O’Brien, who had been the Caps 1st round draft pick in the first 2016/17 AESHL Entry Draft.

 

In return, the Caps acquired the rights to players Mitch Flynn, Brandon Kalbfleisch and the Eagles first round picks .

 

 

The Avalon East Senior Hockey League will start it’s 50th season this Friday night.

The opening game at eight o’clock at the Jack Byrne Arena will have Northeast Eagles at home to Bell Island Blues.

On Saturday at the new Danny Cleary Harbour Grace Community Center, the CeeBee Stars will kick off their season at 7:30 against defending champions St. John’s Caps.  And Sunday at Mobile the Southern Shore Breakers host the Bell Island Blues at seven o’clock.

Each team will play 24 games this season 12 at home and 12 on the road.
