MONDAY

Its a hard way to lose a game especially a contest for a bronze medal. Holy Cross lost on penalty kicks to Saskatchewan in the bronze medal contest at the National Challenge Cup. The teams were tied 1-1 after regulation and overtime play.

SUNDAY

Holy Cross Kirby Group and Quebec played to a 2-all draw Sunday in National Challenge Cup Soccer Play.

Jake Warren  scored at 6 minutes and Sean Henderson at 33 minutes

Newfoundland plays Saskatchewan in bronze medal game 1:30 Monday

 

Holy Cross Avalon Ford women’s soccer team finish 4th at the national Jubilee event. They fell 6-1 to Quebec in the bronze medal game Sunday.Holly O’Neill had the Newfoundland goal. Jamie Crocker in goal stopped a penalty shot in this game.

S A T U R D A Y

Holy Cross Kirby Group downed NWT 3-1. Steve Delong, Jake Warren and Alex Dolomont scored for Cross. The Holy Cross team will face Quebec Sunday at 7:30 island time.

Holy Cross Avalon Ford women’s team suffered a 1-nothing loss to BC Saturday. The winning goal came at the 88 minute mark,. Holy Cross will now play Quebec for the bronze medal. That game is set for Sunday at 1:30 island time.

 

F R I D A Y

Holy Cross suffered their first loss in the men’s Challenge Cup Soccer play downs Friday. They fell 2-0 to Ontario. They play Northwest Territories at ten o’clock Island time Saturday.

T H U R S D A Y

 

Holy Cross Avalon Ford women’s team battled Saskatchewan to a 1-1 tie in Jubilee play Thursday night.  Jane Pope scored what proved to be the tying goal for Newfoundland at the 73 minute mark.Holy Cross have a win and a tie at the Nationals so far. They defeated Nova Scotia 3-nothing in their opening game. They play BC at 1:30 Saturday.

W E D N E S D A Y

Holy Cross Avalon Ford  won their opening game at the National Ladies Jubilee Soccer championships as they blanked Nova Scotia 3-nothing.

Jessie Noseworthy scored two goals and Terri Murphy contributed a single. Jamie Crocker was in goal for the shutout.

The Holy Avalon Food face Saskatchewan in their second game Thursday night at 7:30 island time.

Holy Cross/Kirby Group  men’s team also recorded a victory in their first game of the Challenge Cup National play. Holy Cross defeated Manitoba 4-2. Jake Warren and Tyler Kirby  had two goals each for the Newfoundland team.

Holy Cross will play 9 o clock Friday night island time against Ontario.
