1 vs. 2 Game:
Colin Thomas 202 020 00 = 6
Andrew Symonds 020 300 21 = 8
Except for a final end winning point and a blank by Therapeutic Services Physiotherapy in the 6th end, all the ends saw multiple points put on the board. The lead changed hands four times. The tying pair by the Andrew Symonds skipped foursome in the 2nd end came on a draw to bite the 8-foot circle; the sweepers got it there with an inch to spare. makethecall.ca countered with a deuce in the 3rd end when Colin Thomas with hammer executed a long angle raise takeout. The Symonds foursome took control in the 4th end with a draw for three that followed a last rock freeze attempt by Thomas that slipped to the back of the 8-foot circle. There was also drama in the final end. There was a hogged guard attempt, Symonds with his first stone made a double takeout at the top of the 4-foot circle, and Thomas with his last stone (hoping to send the game to an extra end) rubbed off the opposing stone at the top of the 4-foot circle hoping to get shot rock from a second counter at the side of the button. makethecall.ca will play the Semi-Final next week in hopes of getting a second chance to defeat Therapeutic Services Physiotherapy, the first place team at the end of the round robin.
3 vs. 4 Game:
Paul Harvey 100 100 11 = 4
Adam Boland 021 011 00 = 5
Team Paul Harvey picked up a first end stolen point by leaving Fun ‘N’ Fast skip Adam Boland a difficult double takeout. The Harvey foursome went down 3-1 in the 3rd end when Harvey, with hammer, was left with a long angle raise takeout and gave up a steal. Harvey rolled out on a delicate hit for an attempted pair closing the deficit to 3-2 at the half. Fun ‘N’ Fast was forced to a single in the 5th end when Boland’s draw for 2 with hammer picked up debris and died at centre ice. In the 6th end, down 4-2, Harvey was forced to attempt a risky double takeout with hammer, but his shooter rolled out after removing one counter. In the 7th end, Harvey’s draw with hammer for a pair came up a couple of inches short, so Team Paul Harvey went into the last end needing to steal a pair to get into an extra end. A steal seemed likely after an attempt to clear a long guard jammed on a stone in the 8-foot circle followed by a nice come-around draw to lie two. With his last stone, Harvey chose to replace a guard but it over curled a fraction. Boland’s outturn “winner” split out the front stone (barely) which was sufficient for a 5-4 victory and a spot in the Semi-Final against the team with whom they sparred with all season long for the RE/MAX SuperLeague round robin lead.
