St.John’s Caps won the opening game of the best of seven east coast hockey final edging Southern Sore 4-3 at the Mobile area.
Jon Caul scored what turned out to the the game winning goal at 13:17 of the third period.
Robert Ider, Jeremy Barron and Matthew Fewer also scored for the Caps.
Jeremy Nicholas scored twice for the Shore and Peter Kavanagh added a single.
Kyle Downer made 49 saves in the Caps net while Mark Power had 42 stops for the Breakers.
Game Two is set for seven o’clock Wednesday night at Twin Rinks
