MONARCHS 16–ACES 3

 

Monarchs plated nine runs in the fifth inning and defeated aces in the opening game of their Corner Brook senior baseball semi-final series Friday night at Jubilee Field. The game was called after five innings by the leage mercy rule.

 

Anderson Traverse was the offensive leader for the winners with a for for five performance at the plate. Travis Taylor went three for three for the winners in this game.

 

Matt Colbourne pitches the win. He went the five innings allowing three runs on six hits. He walked for and fanned six.

 

Steve Hynes started for the Aces and takes the loss. He pitched four and two thirds innings. He was roughed up for 14 hits in this game. He walked five and fanned four.

 

Hynes and Steve Kelly had two hits for the Aces in this game.
