CAPITALS PROVINCIAL BASEBALL CHAMPS

The St. John’s Capitals are once again the provincial senior baseball champions.

They defeated Corner Brook Barons 7-5 to win the best of seven final series for games to two.

Dan Connors pitches the win on a two hitter and four strikeouts. Ran Morgan came in relief in the seventh . Adam Lawlor started for the Barons and takes the loss. He goes five innings and gave up nine hits. Riley King finished up. 

Gerry Stone and Dylan MacKenzie both had three for three performances for the Caps. 

It’s also the 45th provincial title in senior baseball for the Caps.

Dan Connors who pitched the win in the final game received two awards. He was the top pitcher as he had two wins and he was also named the most valuable player for the six game series.

Barons Aaron Flood was the series top batter with a .400 average.

 

 

The Corner Brook Barons have forced a game six in the provincial senior baseball final series. The Barons scored three runs in the top of the tenth inning for a 6-4 win over the Caps. The Caps still lead the series three games to two.

Game six is set for one o clock Sunday at St Pats

 

 

 

 

 

Scott Goosney pitched a complete game for hit shutout as the St. John’s Capitals blanked the Corner Brook Barons 4-nothing in provincial senior baseball play. The Caps now lead the best of seven final series three games tonight with game five set for seven o clock Saturday night at St. Pat’s. 

Matt Colbourne went the distance for the Barons. He allowed five hits, walked two hit one batter and struckout eight.

No player in this game had more than one hit.
