Hockey Newfoundland and Labrador handed out three awards for the past season prior to the start of game one of the Herder Memorial Trophy final.
A J Whiffen who toiled with the Grand Falls Windsor Cataracts for the past number of seasons but this year decided to play with the Conception Bay CeeBee Stars was a double winner.
Whiffen walked away with the Most Valuable Player for the Regular season and also top goaltender award.
He helped the CeeBee Stars to a first place finish as the team had 18 wins two losses and one overtime loss for 37 points. His personal statistics were — played 21 games had a save percentage of 95 per cent and a 1.658 goals against average.
The leading scorer during the regular season was Matthew Thomey also of the CeeBee Stars.
Thomey appeared in 21 games and scored 14 goals and set up 20 others for 34 points. He scored two shorthanded goals during the regular season.
