The blog 25 Stanley said in its podcast that the Montreal Canadiens are interested in a Newfoundland hockey player in the Quebec Major Junior hockey League.
The blog says It seems that the Habs GM Marc Bergevin has an eye on a player who’s having an excellent season, Tyler Boland of the Rimouski Oceanic.
The 20-year-old forward dominated the season in the Q circuit as he collected 88 points in 54 games and his closest competition for the league’s top scorer is Russia’s Vitalii Abramov of the Gatineau Olympiques and he’s still nine points behind Boland.
The St. John’s native is a six-foot, 177-pound right-hander and could become one of the few players this season to cross the 100-point mark in the Q.
Knowing that the depth of the Canadiens at center is not very impressive, this possible signature would certainly not harm the depth of the Montreal Canadiens.
