AVALON EAST PLAYOFF MATCHUPS SETTLED

S A T U R D A Y 

 

The Conception Bay CeeBee Stars defeated Southern Shore Brealers 5-3 in Avalon East play Saturday night. The loss by the Shore will see them seeded third for the playoff run.

Five players shared in the scoring for the winners. Kenny King, Matthew Thomey, Andrew Fenwick, Robert Slaney and Daniel Sparkes netted the goals while A.J. Whiffen made 23 saves for the win in nets for the CeeBee Stars.

Shane Boland had a pair of goals for the Shore and Andrew Gale had the other marker.

The best-of-seven semi-final match ups look like this the first place CeeBee Stars take on the St. John’s Caps and the Northeast Eagles go against the Southern Shore Breakers.

On Monday at Goulds Sports Arena, the CeeBees take on the Caps. Game time is 8:30 p.m.

Sean Wadden scored twice and Northeast Eagles doubled St. John’s Caps 4-2 in Avalon East Senior Hockey League play at the Jack Byrne  Arena Friday night.

Andrew Temple and Matt Squires contributed singles.

 

The Eagles outshot the Caps 44-40.

 

The win moved the Eagles into second place in the league standings with 27 points.
