RYAN ENDS RETIREMENT. DRAFTED BY CAPS

RYAN 2Hockey player Terry Ryan who announced last year he was retiring from hockey has apparently had a change of heart and will be back on the ice soon.

The St. John’s Caps used the second overall pick to acquire veteran senior hockey player and former Montreal Canadiens first-round draft pick Terry Ryan. 

Ryan tells The Sportspage he was surprised to learn he was drafted by the Caps. He says ” I had no conversation with them.” He went on to tell the Sportspage ” I am not even really sure how much I can play –not much till after Christmas.” Terry said that ” I thought CeeBees would get me and people would pass on a 39 year old.” Ryan did make it clear ” I’m open to chatting with St. John’s . Hey if they have an interest Ill give it a go.”

The Bell Island Blues made Ian Skinner the first overall pick in the Avalon East Senior Hockey League’s second entry draft on Tuesday. He played with the Corner Brook Royals last season.

The Caps, by virtue of a pre-season trade with the Northeast Eagles for the rights to
defenceman Doug O’Brien, also had a the third pick and used it to take blueliner Murray Bavis.
