CATS, ROYALS SWEEP

Danny Wicks and Rodi Short tallied twice each and the first place Cataracts skate to a 6-2 win over the Gander Flyers and a sweep of their weekend series.

Andrew Brennan and Michael Cole added the other markers for the Cats.

Brett Shute and Jordan Knox replied for Gander.

A J Whiffen in net for the Cataracts made 21 saves while Wayne Savage was the busier of the two with 29 saves.

 

The Corner Brook Royals also come away with a weekend sweet. They beat the Clarenville Caribous 8-6 Sunday.

Ryan Watson scored three goals and added four assists to be the offensive leader in this game for the Royals.

Brandon Hynes contributed two goals and assist. Ryan Salvis, David Budgell and Stephen Simms added singles.

Chad Fisher, Ryan Derosiers, Brandon Roach, Kenny Maloney, Kevin Reid and Stewart McCrae replied for the Caribous.

Bryan Gillis was in net for the Royals for the win making 46 saves. Jason Churchill tending the net for the Caribous turned aside 49 shots.

S A T U R D A Y 

Corner Brook defeat Clarenville 8-5  to move into second place in the league standings. Brandon Hynes scored three goals  Ryan Watson and Ryan Salvis with two goals each. Matthew Thomey has a single. Chad Earle, Kevin Reid, Andrew Sweetland, Ryan Derosiers  and Stuart MacRae for the Bous.

Nicklas Lidstrom scores in overtime and the first place Cataracts edge the Gander Flyers 3-2 in Gander. Brett Shute and Arron Asham have the Gander goals and Andrew Brennan and Michael Brent  scored the other Cataracts goals.
