Roebothan McKay and Marshall Avalon Junior Capitals started their new St. John’s Junior Hockey League season with a bang. The Capitals downed the C-B-N Stars 12-1 at the Goulds Arena.

Ben Cleary scored two goals and added four assists to lead the Capitals. Singles markers were added by Ben Murphy, John Snow, Ben Marshall, Paddy Nicolle, Matthew Downer, Harry Noftall, Adan Caines, Andrew Paul, Cameron Dunn, and Coady Barron.

Ryan Dawson replied for C-B-N.

In another season opener the C-B-R Renegades came up with an 8-2 decision over Northeast Celtics at the Robert French Memorial Stadium in Kelligrews.

Mitch King had two goals for the Renegades. Zack Hoskins, Colin Chafe, Lucas Lush, Andrew Barron, Justin Boland and Ryan Day had single markers.

Luke McKay had both goals for the Celtics.
