St. John’s, NL – August 23, 2025 – Team NL athlete Gavin Baggs of Paradise, NL, has capped off a historic run at the 2025 Canada Games in St. John’s by securing a silver medal finish in the 400m Wheelchair Men’s Race today.

Baggs’ outstanding performance marks a monumental achievement for Team NL, as he added his third athletics medal of the Games to his collection. Earlier this week, he struck gold in the 1500m Wheelchair Men’s Race and claimed silver in the 100m Wheelchair Men’s Race.

His Canada Games success began in Week 1, when he captured a silver medal in the 400m Freestyle Para Swimming, becoming Team NL’s first medalist of the Games.
“It’s been an unforgettable experience,” said Baggs. “It’s been my favourite Games so far for so many reasons. I’m really proud to call Newfoundland and Labrador home.”
“Gavin’s third and final medal punctuates our team’s resilience this week,” said Mark Miller, Head Coach of Team NL Athletics. “This historic run by him will hopefully fuel the future success of our sport in the province.”

With four medals across two sports, Baggs has established himself as one of Team NL’s standout athletes of the 2025 Games, showcasing perseverance, versatility, and determination on the national stage.
