GROWLERS WIN THREE THIS WEEKEND

SUNDAY

The Growler made it three weekend wins Sunday with a 4-2 win over Worcester Railers. The Growlers get four goals from four different players.

Garrett Johnston, Colt Conrad, Dylan Vander Esch and Justin Brazeau shared in the scoring.

The Newfoundland Growlers scored four unanswered goals in a  come-from-behind 4-2 victory over Adirondack Thunder Saturday night in Glens Falls, New York.

The Adirondack Thunder opened the scoring 17:20 into the first period after Casey Pierro-Zabotel put the puck past Growlers netminder Angus Redmond. While the Growlers outshot the Thunder 12-6 in the first period the Thunder took a 1-0 lead into the second frame.

Casey Pierro-Zabotel scored again, this time on the powerplay, 7:04 into the second period to put the Thunder up by two. The Growlers fought off some penalty trouble in the second and eventually, Zach O’Brien scored beating the Thunder goalie Eamon McAdam. The Growlers entered the third period down by one goal.

Dylan Vander Esch found his second goal in as many games to tie the game at two all halfway through the third period.Growlers capitalized on a powerplay as Aaron Luchuk scored to give the Growlers the  3-2 lead.

 Riley Woods added an insurance goal for the Growlers late in the period to give the squad from Newfoundland a 4-2 win.

Riley Woods put together a five-point performance with two goals and three assists as the Growlers outlasted the Adirondack Thunder 7-4 v at Cool Insuring Arena on Friday night.

The Growlers offence started on time as Trey Bradley opened the scored just five minutes into the first period by snapping the puck behind an outstretched Evan Cormier, who started in the Adirondack net. Dylan Vander Esch added his third goal of the season at the 16-minute mark to give the Growlers a 2-0 lead heading into the second period. Maksim Zhukov stopped all seven shots directed towards the Growlers in the first period.

The Growlers offence continued into the second, Riley Woods added to the Growlers added a powerplay goal after forward Brady Ferguson passed off to him deep in the Adirondack zone. Later in the period, Adirondack finally scored on a shorthanded play, Coner Riley was credited with the goal. The Growlers were up  3-1 heading to the third period.

Justin Brazeau registered his 17th goal of the season 4:59 into the the final frame  after snapping a rebound past the Adirondack netminder. Brazeau’s goal was the first of seven goals to be scored in the third period.

The Growlers got goals from Zach O’Brien, Riley Woods and Matt Bradley in the third. 

The Growlers held on for a  7-4 victory over the Thunder.
