Giorgio Estephan scored the overtime winning goal  as the Growlers edged the Reading Royals 4-3 Saturday night at Santander Arena in Reading, Pennsylvania.

Riley Woods opened the scoring for the Growlers just 1:43 into the game after tipping a blast from Joseph Duszak beating Reading goalie Kirill Ustimenko. The Growlers added another later in the frame as Aaron Luchuk banged in the puck after being fed a pass from Riley Woods who was stationed behind the Reading goal. Brayden Low cut the Growlers lead to just one goal before the teams retreated to their dressing rooms after 20 minutes of play.

Newfoundland registered 17 shots in the second while Reading managed to get 6 but Ralph Cuddemi beat Angus Redmond to tie the game  at two all , five minutes into the middle frame.

The Growlers and the Royals traded goals in the third period, Marcus Power connected on the powerplay and Brayden Low responded for the Royals. Neither team could accomplish a game-winner in regulation time but after a fast-paced back and forth overtime period, Giorgio Estephan finally beat the Royals netminder after jumping on the rebound of an Aaron Luchuk breakaway to earn the overtime victory and  2 points for the Growlers.

Angus Redmond made 37 saves in to earn his fourth straight win.

The Newfoundland Growlers couldn’t overcome the Reading Royals despite a late third period push, as the Royals ended the Growlers five game winning streak with a 5-3 victory Friday night.

The Royals open the scoring 5:54 into the first as Trevor Yates put one past Growlers goaltender Maksim Zhukov. Justin Brazeau responded exactly one minute later scoring  on the powerplay.

The back and forth play continued as Corey Mackin registered a powerplay goal for the Reading Royals at 9:13 into the game. The Growlers tied up the contest  just after the midway point of the first as Marcus Power connected on a snap pass from Matt Bradley to beat Royals netminder. Max Willman ended the scoring rush for the first period giving Reading a 3-2 lead heading into the second.

Ralph Cuddemi connected for  the only goal in the second period to give the Royals a two-goal cushion over the Growlers heading into the third.

With a little more than six minutes left in the third, Growlers head coach, John Snowden pulled  goaltender Maksim Zhukov for an extra attacker for a late game push. The strategy would pay off as Zach O’Brien scored his 7th goal of the season, bringing the squad to within one goal of the Royals. The comeback was cut short as Garrett Mitchell put  the puck into the empty net to secure the 5-3 victory for the Royals.
