It was an old time hockey in Corner Brook Friday night as the Royals hosted Deer Lake Red Wings in the season opener.
Plenty of body contact and a nail-biter to the end.
Jalen Gillard’s third goal of the game with eight seconds left in regulation time lifted the Red Wings to a 7-6 win over the hometown Royals.
Luke Parsons, Noah Legge, Lucas Mackey and Josh Skinner scored the other Red Wing goals.
Iain Pilgrim and Daniel Noseworthy had two goals each for the Royals with Tyler Hunt adding a single.
Over 2 thousand fans were in attendance for the season opener.
