SUMMERSIDE, PEI – On Saturday at the 2021 Atlantic Baseball Challenge Girls 16U in Summerside, PEI Team NL and Team NS did battle twice, in the last round robin game (12:00 PM) and then again in the 1 vs 2 game (3:00 PM) of the page play-off format.
In the last round robin game at 12:00 PM both teams came out swinging and a lot of runs were scored early. However due to a Team NL player injury and a lengthy delay in the 3rd inning both teams in consultation with the Host committee agreed to stop the game and call it a tie as both teams were going to be in the 1 vs. 2 play-off game at 3:00 PM.
Jaida Lee lead the way with a towering homerun and a Double for Team NL and Molly Healy had a Triple and a Single in the last round robin game.
The 3:00 PM 1 vs. 2 game did not disappoint as it was a 16U Girls Baseball game for the ages, as Team NL edged Team NS 7 – 6 in extra innings (9).
Jaida Lee led the winners with three hits including her 2nd homerun of the day. Taylor Burton (CB) and Holly Russell (GFW) each had two hits. Hope Bishop-Frizzell (CBS), Madison Lockyer (MP) and Jonelle Cater (BSG) had 1 hit each.
