robThe St. John’s IceCaps announced that Rob Mullowney, Vice President, Operations for the club, will be leaving organization to take a senior management position with the new American Hockey League (AHL) franchise in Belleville, Ontario.

While the new Belleville entry – which will serve as the Ottawa Senators AHL affiliate – does not take to the ice until the Fall of 2017, Mullowney will join the organization in January.

Under Mullowney’s guidance for the past five seasons, the IceCaps have been recognized by the AHL for excellence in sponsorship sales, sponsorship activation, group sales, marketing, community engagement and game operations.

In 2013 Mullowney was named the winner of the AHL’s Ken Mackenzie Award, presented annually to the league’s top marketing executive. In 2014 the IceCaps were presented with the President’s Award as the Team of the Year for excellence in overall operations of a franchise.

Danny Williams, IceCaps President and CEO says while pleased for Mullowney, the IceCaps are saddened to see him go.

“As one of our very first hires, Rob was instrumental in building the IceCaps into one of the American Hockey League’s model franchises,” said Mr. Williams.

“Rob’s fingerprints are all over our organization and I’m not surprised the Senators reached out to Rob to help launch their new Belleville club. I have every confidence Rob will flourish in his new role and help build a successful team in Belleville as he did in St. John’s. We wish Rob and his family all the best in the future.”
