ICE CAPS GET SERIES SPLIT WITH DEVILS

The IceCaps hang on and get a split of their weekend series with Albany with a 5-4 win on Saturday night.

 

Charles Hudon tallied twice for the home team with singles off the sticks of Brett Lernout, Stefan Matteau and Chris Terry.

 

Yann Danis was in net for the win making 29 saves.

 

The IceCaps head out on the road now for six games starting next Friday in Rochester.

 

 

F R I D A Y 

The Albany Devils edged  the St. John’s IceCaps 3-2 in an overtime at Mile One Centre on Friday night.

 

The IceCaps scored  twice in the first period.. Charles Hudon and Mark MacMillan scored  for St. John’s.

 

The second period was scoreless in this contest. However, the Devils came back to cut the lead in half with an early goal in the third. Albany would go on to tie it up with just 2:41 left in regulation to send it to overtime.

 

Albany came out hard in the extra frame, while IceCaps netminder Charlie Lindgren made highlight-worthy save-after-save. The Devils finally found the back of the net with 1:08 left on the clock for the win.

 

Devils’ goaltender Ken Appleby made 32 saves in a third-star performance, while Lindgren made 23 in a second-star night.

 

The IceCaps finish up their six-game home stand tonight (7:30PM) with a rematch against the Albany Devils.
