GROWLERS WIN END TWO GAME LOSING STREAK ON THIS ROAD TRIP

The Growlers two game losing streak came to an end Sunday. The Growlers scored four second period goals en route to a 9-1 thrashing of Jacksonville Icemen.

Justin Brazeau scored four times in this contest and Brady Ferguson added two. Marcus Power, Miles Gendron and Zack O’Brien had singles. 

The Growlers now have 75 points with 38 wins 17 losses and shootout loss.

They return home now and start a three game series with Adirondack Thunder starting Wednesday night. 

 

S A T U R D A Y

The Growlers were unsuccessful in Orlando on Saturday night as the Solars Bears downed them 5-1 in front of a crowd of over 8100 at the Amway Center.

The Solar Bears opened the scoring 5:05 into the game off the stick of Chris Leblanc beating Growlers goalie Angus Redmond who made his second straight start. Justin Brazeau responded for the Growlers 6 minutes later to tie the game at one.

While the Growlers kept to their structure and produced an effective second period it was the Solar Bears who made a difference on the score sheet with two goals. Trevor Olson and Michael Brodzinski were to Bears goal scorers.

The Solar Bears added two late goals in the third to secure a 5-1 victory as the Growlers lost their second in a row in the Sunshine State.

The Newfoundland Growlers continue their five-game road trip Sunday afternoon in Jacksonville when they take on the IceMen Puck  at  4:30 p.m. Island time

The Growlers lost 3-nothing to the Florida Everblades Frday night. 

The Growlers are first in the Atlantic Division with 37 wins 16 losses and one shootout loss for 75 points.

The Everblades are second in the South Division with a record of 39 wins 13 losses 3 overtime losses and two shootout losses for 83 points.
