DEER LAKE UNDEFEATED IN 7 GAMES

The Deer Lake Red Wings are now undefeated after seven games in the West Coast Senior Hockey League following an 8-7 win over Port aux Basques Mariners.

The Red Wings opened up a 5-nothing lead after the first and were up 6-4 heading into the final period.

Ryan Penney led the winners with three goals including what proved to be the game winner at 18:52 of the third period. Luke Parsons added two goals and Stephen Simms, Alex Tulk and Noah Legge had single markers.

Dylan Savory netted three goals for the visiting Mariners and Robert Parsons chipped in with a pair. Robert Mercer and Joshua White had singles.

Deer Lake Red Wings remain undefeated winning their six games against no losses with a 5-2 win Friday night over Corner Brook Royals who are now ( 2-3-2) on the season. 

Stephen Simms had a pair of goals for the Wings with singles off the sicks of Drew Langdon, Brady Marche and Zackary Appin.

Brandon Hynes and Joshua Taylor replied for the Royals.

The teams were tied at two after the first period and Deer Lake added a single in the second and two more in the third for the win.

Saturday Deer Lake goes after its seventh win as they host the winless Port aux Basques Mariners.
