CAPS, BREAKERS WIN IN ECSHL PLAY FRIDAY

CLARENVILLE 6–CEEBEE STARS 1

 

The Clarenville Caribous picked up their sixth win of the East Coast Senior Hockey League season Saturday night beating the CeeBee Stars 6-1.

Mason Reid tallied twice for the Caribous. Kenny Mahoney, Chris Sparkes, Chad Earle and Dustin Russell had single markers.

Matthew Thomey had the lone CeeBee Stars goal.

Clarenville opened up a 3-nothing lead after the first 20 minutes and were up 4-nothing heading to the third frame. 

There  are two games on Sunday and its  Southern Shore Breakers at home to  St. John’s Caps and the CeeBee Stars play host to Clarenville.

St. JOHN’S CAPS 6–NORTHEAST EAGLES 3

Kyle McGrath scored the hat trick and that led the St. John’s Caps to a 6-3 win over the Northeast Eagles in East Coast Senior Hockey play Friday night.  That win moved the Caps into second place in the league standings with 12 points two more than Clarenville.

Jordan Escott add two goals for the Caps and Pat O’Keefe had a single.

Alex Powell, Andrew Paul and Tyler Walsh were the Northeast goals scorers.

The Caps had a 1-nothing lead after the first and were up 4-2 heading into the final frame.

SS BREAKERS 4–CEEBEE STARS 2

Southern Shore Breakers won their ninth game of the season doubling the CeeBee Stars 4-2.

Leading scorer Daniel Cadogan netted two markers and Michael Chafe and Kieran Kennedy added singles.  Jesse Morris and Ryan Dawson replied for the CeeBee Stars.

The teams were tied 1 all after the first with the Shore having a 2-1 lead heading into the third period.
