EDGE SETTLE FOR WEEKEND SPLIT

The London Lightning blasted the St John’s Edge 124-102 before 4520 fans at Mile One Sunday. That saw the weekend series split after the Edge won 110-108 Saturday. Coron Williams was the Edge top scorer Sunday wit 23 points. Wally Ellenson and Carl English had 14 points each.

 

S A T U R D A Y 

In a battle of top teams in the Central Division, Carl English ensured his team went home victorious with a late basket as the St. John’s Edge (22-12) defeated the London Lightning (21-12) 110-108 Saturday night at Mile One Centre.

With 1.5 seconds remaining on the clock, English drove the lane-using what little space he had, to send the ball into the net to put the Edge up by two. Royce White’s full-court Hail Mary toss fell short giving St. John’s the win.

Alex Johnson led the way for St. John’s with a team-high 19 points, adding a rebound and four assists. Carl English made 16 points, with five rebounds. Xavier Ford-St. John’s player of the game chipped in with 16 points and nine rebounds.

Doug Herring Jr. led the Lightning with a game-high 27 points, adding five rebounds and one assist. Ryan Anderson added 25 points for London accompanied by six rebounds.

The St. John’s Edge will close out their six-game home-stand Sunday  afternoon in a rematch against the London Lightning, tip-off is two o clock .
